Alison Smith from the University of Bath gave a interesting and valuable speech about their course about Talented Athlete Lifestyle Support (TALS).
The main purpose with the course is to educate PDMs in issues that are adequate for their occupation.
The course itself contains five different units, that all are one day long each. Depending on the unit they cover both practice and theory. Today the main delivery is to take one day per month during a five months period, but a block delivery exists as well. The later means that you first take the three first units, and then after a month go through the two last.
Since the start in February 2013, 56 learners have completed the course. The students have represented 16 universities across the UK, but a growing number of attendees has been working within sports.

One of EU Athletes goal is to help to set up player association in Europe. By using the UNI Europa project “Supporting test phase of the ESSDC in European Sport Sector” we are gathering new player association together.
The project “Supporting test phase of the ESSDC in European Sport Sector” co financed by the European Commission helps EU Athletes, in partnership with UNI Europa, to bring together people who are setting up new player association in Europe.
The meeting in Stockholm was the round table for the professionnal sport sub sector. 6 new player associations participated in this meeting.
The aim of the round table was to present on one hand the social dialogue guide created during a previous project and also to help them set up their work plan for the rest of the year, organise their ideas and priorities.
Setting up a player association is not easy, a lot of areas need to be covered but more importantly contact with players and team visits are a key factor in order to create and establish the organisation.
During the next couple of months, we will follow up with those associations and invite them to attend other meetings and conferences where they will meet the entire EU Athletes group.

During 2 days the all the UNI Europa Sport members were in Bilbao to have an exchange on the development of a risk assessment tools in their respective sectors.
After receiving a presentation from EU OSHA on their OIRA tool, Vincent GOUTTEBARGE from FIFPRO and Roger SUTTON from the live performance sector, each sub sector started to create their own tool in small working gourps.
By creating modules and areas of concerns, it will help the entire sector to create their first ever tool in the field of professional sport, active leisure and outdoors.
It’s an important step forward for workers of each sub sectors. By raising awareness on potential areas of risks and also creating a unique instrument that will help to improve the minimum standards of the sector on health and safety of their employees.
