In the frame of our Erasmus+ project, 2016 PROtect Integrity conference co-organized in partnership with Interpol has taken place in Lyon, France between 13-15 of April.
During two busy days, the representatives of player unions have participated in Train the Trainer seminar led by Daniela Giuffre from Interpol Integrity in Sport Unit. The program included sessions on integrity in sport, session planning or practical case studies, which have led to interesting exchanges between trade union members and Interpol, working together for the first time. With newly acquired Interpol’s certificates, the participants will soon start delivering face to face match-fixing education via team visits.
The conference was enriched with the interventions from George Paterson related to the European Commission’s role in the fight against match-fixing and Yvonne Nolan, on the Rugby World Cup 2016 Integrity Programme. Sessions on social media and communications and the practical aspects of Erasmus+ project implementation completed the 3 days seminar.
The last day of the event coincided with the #EUSportIntegrityDay held on the 15th of April every year and once again was an opportunity to express our commitment to fight against match fixing.

The social dialogue is a unique platform for employees of the sport sector, represented by UNI Europa and employers represented by EASE, to discuss common issues related to sport in Europe.
More specific matters related to each sub-sectors (Professional Sport, Not-for-profit Sport and Active Leisure) are dealt with within working groups’ sessions.
During the meeting, the Work Plan for 2016 and the ongoing activities of the Committee, including the Joint Opinion “Strengthening the Employability in the Sport and Active Leisure Sector” have been discussed. It was also an opportunity to learn more about the social partners’ activities and achievements and to engage interesting exchanges regarding the affiliates’ priorities and the challenges that they are facing. The participants have also been informed that the OiRA Risk Assessment Tool for Sport, elaborated in partnership with EU-OSHA has been finalized.
The social dialogue is an essential element of the good governance in the sport sector and an increased participation of national and European sport federations and professional leagues would bring benefits toemployees and employers alike.
