Match fixing is a key priority for EU Athletes members they have developed with their EU co-financed project Suggested Reporting Protocol in case of match fixing.
The PROtect Integrity Project co-financed by the European Commission, the EGBA, The RGA and ESSA helped EU Athletes members to develop Suggested Reporting Protocol (SRP) for player associations.
Over the last year of implementation of the PROtect Integrity Project, EU Athletes members had enough time to work and prepare together guidelines to develop SRP. This document was created after the Athens catch up seminar in October 2013.
We wanted to give to each of them standard basics principles that needed to be respected when they are dealing with players and potential match fixing cases.
This document is one of many results of the PROtect Integrity Project.

EU Athletes is launching today the first ever #EUSportIntegrityDay. A transnational initiative from player associations on the education of athletes on the risks of match fixing.
For more than four years now, EU Athletes in cooperation with EGBA, RGA and ESSA have created a unique programme to educate professional athletes on the risks surrounding match fixing.
In 2013 the European Commission decided to co-finance this initiative with the PROtect Integrity project. After more than a year of implementation 14.000 professionnal athletes in Europe have been reached by player associations.
This project helped us to gather key stats in order to define the size of the problem :
– 55% of the players reached didn’t knew the rules before the visit of the player association.
– 83% think it’s important they receive a more regular information on match-finxing.
-91% are more aware of the importance of reporting suspicious activities.
By launching the first ever #EUSportIntegrityDay on Social Media, EUAthletes will highlight the quantity and quality of the work done by the player associations. Our role is crucial : protect our sport and educate athletes of tomorrow.

The final meeting of the PROtect Integrity Project was held in Amsterdam (NL) earlier this week.
The entire EU Athletes staff of “PROtect Integrity” Poject was in Amsterdam, earlier this week to discuss about the partial results of the 18 months education programme delivered by the players Union members of EU Athletes and financially supported by the gaming industry (EGBA, ESSA, RGA) and the European Commission.
After more than a year of implementation, all the associations have delivered a tremendous job, by meeting the players directly in the locker rooms, teaching them about the risks of match fixing and implementing a addiction survey with the help of CRJE.
The staff will now compile the results gathered by all the association and evaluate the work done in order to prepare a draft of the final report that will be submitted to the European Commission early in the summer.

The second day “morning session” was focusing on integrity in sport with a EU Athletes presentation on the EPAS convention “against the manipulation of sports competitions”.
